Do I need a passport to go on a cruise to St. Maarten?

I’m leaving on 12/22 for a cruise to San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. St. Maarten is the only destination that is not a territory of the U.S., I’ve seen sites that say cruise passengers are ok until 1/31/2008 and I’ve seen others that say as of 1/1/2007.
