Import a 6-months old car from St. Maarten/St. Martin to Europe?

Kindly read this question carefully…

I am currently living on the island of St. Maarten (Dutch side) and would like to buy a new VW Passat.

Six months later I would like to ship this car and import it in Europe (France or the Netherlands)

Of course I am looking for the cheapest option; should I buy the car in the USA or in St. Martin (French Side) as this is part of France?

What do I need to do to pay as little as possible taxes when importing the car in either France or the Netherlands?

Your assistance will be very much appreciated, thank you and happy Easter!

Lori
