I think that lunch is the main meal eaten because some people eat a heavy lunch, work late and might not get home until late. Some do not like to eat too late so will hat a hot drink or snack before going to be.
On the other hand some people come home and cook for the family so it might vary. At times I cook on mornings so that everyone can take their lunch and so that I do not have to do it when I come home.
