Why do some American students go the Caribbean to get their degrees to become doctors?

For example, they have been going to college in the U.S for some time(wasting time), then suddenly they decide to go the Caribbean to become a doctor. But why can’t they just get their degrees from the U.S? Is it easier to obtain their? Cheaper? Is the studies easier?
